Neighborhood Cookout

Tonight we invited 3 of our neighborhood families over for a cookout. One family has 3 girls, one has 3 boys, and one has 1 girl and 2 boys. Brad started smoking brisket, spare ribs and pulled pork this morning and spent the entire day perfecting his recipe. It turned out great! Since some of the neighbors brought side dishes and dessert it left me with relatively little to worry about. We had grilled asparagus, corn, strawberry spinach salad, watermelon, beans, BBQ and strawberries picked just hours prior! I think everyone was stuffed, yet we forced ourselves to eat some ice cream cake in celebration of Jacob's 7th birthday...our neighbor and Baileigh's buddy.

Brooke and Harrison...these two are just a few weeks apart and starting to be so entertaining to watch together. Aren't they a cute pair! Despite a few small leaks, our waterslide continues to survive and provide a lot of entertainment for the neighbors...I'm not sure if we're going to be missed or our slide!
Baileigh and Jacob...there was talk of Jacob having kissed Baileigh somewhere in the course of the evening! In general these two are just buddies but I think Jacob has a little crush on Baileigh...she seems a little clueless and not interested which thrills me! Jacob is a good influence though in the sense that he brings out Baileigh's tomboy side and they spend hours catching frogs, ripping up worms and harassing bugs! I guess I can see why he likes her!
Brooke was up way past her bedtime and that combined with being cold made her extremely cuddly which Daddy loves!
The gang...not including four "older" sisters and brothers that are too cool for photos.
Considering we rented this house site unseen based upon the approval of our good friend we've been so thankful and pleased not only with the house but with the amazing neighbors! The worse part is that it makes moving even harder! We anticipated being sad to leave our church friends that we knew from our previous assignment but I never anticipated getting so close with neighbors in only one year! Its been a blessing but it will make the transition to a new home and new neighborhood harder as the bar has been set very high!

How fun, and how comforting that God gave you friends where you didn't expect them. He will bless you and take care of you in your new home too!
