Overwhelming

I'm sitting on a cold metal folding chair at a card table in our otherwise empty new house using a neighbors stolen wireless internet. I drove down yesterday with the girls to "camp" with Brad in our soon to be "new" house that we are currently renting.

It's exciting to be here and start to envision our projects...it's also extremely overwhelming. The house is much more of a fixer upper then we realized. It's all really cosmetic issues but it's hard to soak it all in without freaking out. The first priority is the main floor. We're putting in our cabinet order tonight and counter tops. We're ripping out the current kitchen and flooring. That is the main project on this level. We're also raising the kitchen ceiling a foot and changing all the lighting. Also on the "to do" list is remodeling the half bath in the front hall and removing the wallpaper in the foyer.

Every room needs painting. We need to put in new carpet throughout the upstairs...ideally we wanted to put wood on the stairs and hallway but that idea may not happen since we want to get carpet ordered and put in before our furniture arrives. Both upstairs bathrooms need wallpaper removal as well as a remodel since the floors have loose tile.

Regardless of the work I love the basement! It's finished (needs painting) but the carpet is in good shape and overall it doesn't need a lot. We're going to make that our family room area while we work on the main floor. I am feeling stressed and overwhelmed but also excited and anxious. We're hoping to get this list completed by later this fall...I think I'll have plenty of opportunities to fulfill any nesting desires in this house in the next 8 months!

We're off this morning to visit each of the girls new schools and then go to the clubhouse to look into joining the pool. Cable guy comes this afternoon so pretty soon I can stop stealing my neighbors wireless!
