4th of July

We had our 4th of July celebration on the 3rd. We're leaving town the morning of the 5th so we thought a late night of fireworks on the 3rd may work out better. We went to the National Harbor near DC for their events.
Daddy and his girls...we found an open grassy area and gambled that we would be able to see the fireworks without any of the buildings on the harbor front being in our way. Nobody sat where we were which was a little concerning but we ended up having a perfect view without being too close (didn't want to scare Morgan, too much) and without fighting any crowds.
Mckenna picked me some flowers from the resorts pretty gardens...oops. Her heart was in the right place.
Just being silly while we wait for the fireworks. We brought popcorn and snacks and drinks and camped out and had a great time.
Waiting with great anticipation after hearing a loud boom....

Brooke was so funny...she was screaming and cheering for the fireworks and jumping up and down.
At one point I noticed that Brooke had her hand over her heart (well actually her throat) because they were playing a version of the National Anthem on the music that accompanied the fireworks. I thought it was so funny she did this on her own.
I had a lot of fun playing with new camera and experimenting with the various shutter speeds.

We've had a lot of depressing 4th of July celebrations as there have been several times when Brad was deploying around this date or leaving on long trips. I think that fact along with being a military family makes me enjoy just spending time together on this holiday and appreciating its significance.

I'm so glad you got to have a great day with your family all together. I love the pics of Brooke with fireworks in the background.
