Roller Coaster

The past week has been a roller coaster of emotions. The highlight was Mckenna making a decision last week to ask Jesus into her heart. Our church performed a musical called, "On The Third Day" which told the Easter story. She was really impacted by the performance and the result was a great conversation at bedtime that ended in her wanting to pray. On the opposite end of the feelings spectrum was the heart breaking experience of having to put our 12 year old Golden Retriever, Jonah, to sleep. We learned he had a cancerous tumor in early December. Our sweet Jonah...

The vet thought he would only make it to the New Year...we managed to get a few more good months out of him but this past week he started to go downhill. The day truly was one of the worst in my life. I cried just about continuously and the fact that I had to do it alone since Brad is gone and that I had to break the news to the girls was just about all I could handle. I'm still numb and find myself calling for him at dinner time and filling his bowl...force of habit after so many years.

His poor brother, Ranger, is starting to realize Jonah isn't coming home.

oh you poor thing...Steve carried around a dish towel for days he called his "crying towel" after we lost Dodger. it is not easy to lose a companion you had for so many years. we had Dodger for 11 1/2 years and that is a lot of time to spend together! It will get better ; ) We just got Dodger's grave marker this weekend from mom and dad (they wanted to have something special done) so I guess we will bury his remains soon and I am sure there will be more tears! It is a terrible, terrible thing. Again, we are super sorry but not super sorry you had such a good friend for so long! Take good care of his brother, I really do think they know....xo The Kemps

I am so sorry about your dog. I had a golden growing up and she meant the world to me. I hope God can help you and your family find peace.
